Step 1

Harvesting from our own garden and fields.

We harvest many of the medicinal plants that we use in our formulations in our own biodynamic garden or in the fields of our Demeter farm in Bad Boll. For others, we use controlled wild harvesting in nature. Manual work is therefore essential to guarantee the high quality of our ingredients. The witch hazel for our Facial Toner, the marigold for our Daily Hydrating Eye Cream, and the field horsetail for our Moor Lavender Calming Body Oil are all harvested by hand.

Step 2

Harvesting for our worldwide partners.

We source plants that we are unable to grow ourselves from organic farming partners around the world. We care about the local people just as much as the harvest. That’s why the castor, macadamia and avocado oils that pamper your skin in many of our Dr. Hauschka products have the “Fair for life” label.

Step 4

The calendar design for 2024.

It will come as no surprise to you that even the design of this year’s advent calendar is crafted by hand: Traditional potato printing rekindles childhood memories and brings Christmas trees to life. It gives our Christmas packaging its handmade charm.

Supporting a social project empowering women in India.

By choosing a Dr. Hauschka sustainable advent calendar, you are supporting the Myna Mahila Foundation, which helps more than 10,000 women each month in India. MALMO Exports regularly donates a portion of its turnover and its own material to the Myna Mahila Foundation, which uses it to make affordable female hygiene products. The organisation headquartered in Mumbai is shedding light on the taboo of menstruation in Indian society and helping women have more autonomy. With access to hygiene products, young girls are able to conquer daily life at school and enjoy their education. With every purchase of our sustainable advent calendar, you stand beside them.

Manufacturing our natural skincare in Germany.

We also manufacture our natural skincare by hand. For example, the Dr. Hauschka Facial Toner is stirred by hand every morning during its 21-day maturation period. This helps to blend the valuable ingredients as best as possible. Our laboratories monitor the quality of processes and conduct basic research into botanical active ingredients.

Step 5

Organic cotton pouches from India.

Our Indian partner MALMO Exports is responsible for the entire manufacturing process of the high-quality pouches—from the harvesting of organic cotton, to fabric production and sewing. As a Fairtrade-certified company, MALMO Exports guarantees good working conditions and fair pay, with social engagement to top it off!

We don’t stop there. We pack by hand too!

Back in Germany: Yet another round of manual work goes into our sustainable advent calendar. We fill the pouches with carefully selected Dr. Hauschka Skincare products, and fold and pack each cardboard box by hand. All that to make you, or the people receiving your gift, happy on each of the 24 days during advent.
